What is oral sedation?
If, after a review with the dentist it is decided that Oral Sedation is the best route, the Dentist will arrange for a prescription of Valium to be issued to the patient.
This approach will involve the patient taking Valium before the Dental appointment. The dosage can be altered to match the patients level of anxiety. Normally two tablets are prescribed for each treatment visit. The first is taken the night before the treatment session and the second is taken one hour before the treatment appointment.
This produces a calming influence which enables the Dentist to administer a local anaesthetic so that work can be carried out.
