About Priory Dental Centre


The Priory Dental Centre first opened in July 2001 in the Royston Health Centre, since that time we have assisted more than 8000+ patients.

In October 2007 the Dental Centre re-located to Queens Road, Royston where we continue to provide a high standard of dentistry to the area as well as being able to offer new patients our wide range of treatments.

We have 5 new treatment suites in our spacious 2 floor Dental Centre, fully equipped to allow us to carry out the latest treatments and techniques. Every effort has been made ensure that the surroundings and decor provide a relaxing atmosphere that will put you at ease during your visit.

We can now offer a wider range of treatments from line and wrinkle reduction, dental implants and teeth whitening using the ZOOM! ® System, either in surgery or with take home kits all under safe dental supervision.

3 Tier Dental PlanThe Department of Health has changed the way NHS Dental Provision is commissioned, and we are not able to take on any additional NHS Patients. Prior to April 2006, all we had to do was equip a surgery, recruit a Dentist and advertise our availability, but that is no longer possible. However patients have always been able to choose some Private treatments in addition to those offered by the NHS.

We feel that due to the continued demand from the public for NHS services and the current circumstances, a third option is required. Therefore, we have introduced a three tier system, which is Platinum for Private, Gold for Independent and Silver for NHS.

Professional Dentists

Meet our dental staff

Dr Robert AyreHeading up the Dental Team is owner and principal Dr Robert Ayre. Robert qualified from Liverpool University in 1979 and has been in general practice since then. He also owns 2 other dental practices in Huntingdon and Peterborough.

Theo KarantoniouDr Theodore Karantoniou, qualified at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden in June 1998 and has been practicing in the UK since February 2000. Mr Karantoniou joined the practice in May 2005. He specialises in Dental Implants and is very experienced in Private Dental Restorations.

Dental Therapists

Sandie KowkabzadehSandie Kowkabzadeh has been with the practice from the beginning and is an excellent Dental Therapist. She qualified in 1973 as a Dental Auxiliary. She deals with advanced hygiene issues as well as restorations for children under Dentists referral.

Veronica Ogden who joined the practice on June 2006 is an experienced Therapist and qualified in New Cross Hospital as a Dental Therapist in 1978. In 1980 she pursued her career in Birmingham working in a Dental School and then in 1981 worked for 4 years as a teacher, training Dental Hygiene students. She then had a career break and has been working as a Dental Therapist ever since.

Clinical Nurses

Angela Jarman has been with the practice since 2001. She is the longest assisting Dental Nurse within the practice. She also assisted Dr Robert Ayre establish the Royston surgery. She qualified in 2005 and is an essential part of the team. She is qualified in First Aid and also rotates between different surgeries.

Kirsty Green joined the practice in 2004 and qualified in 2005. She is also qualified in First Aid and rotates between surgeries normally travelling to the practice in Huntingdon. She enjoys assisting with children’s treatments and enjoys working with the Hygienists as well as the Dentists.

We are delighted to announce that 2 new Dental Nurses have just joined us, Kirtsy Winter and Nicola Allen.

Practice Manager

The practice manager is Annmarie Franklin, she is responsible for all the administration, staff duties as well as day to day running of the practice. She is assisted by Liz Kahner, who is our part time assistant.
